The End?
hello guys a little bit ago i think i made rigidchips history O_o here is the IRC if you want to read though it, it was just me (darkeye22) and Isaac_ (AKA TheMilkMan)
i was kind of board and i was just flying around and then i remembered one time when i was hosting a private server for target practice and i had one plane just flying straight and i would try to shot at it and i noticed the planes where flying all weird after i got out from the center of the world but i did't think anything about it at the time so i decided to see if i could get it to do it again then i asked isaac_(AKA TheMilkMan) about it and he said he never flue far enough for it to start happening, i just kept flying to see how bad it would get then i decided to see how far i could fly with out having rigidchips crash but it never did, and after about 2 hours i finally reached The End at Z : 262799.78 how do i now i reached The End? there was a invisible wall so i could not get any further and my plane would rip apart after i stayed on the wall after a while even when i had unbreakable off oh and the physics went crazy the farther out i went so i was wondering Has Any One ever done this before? i would like to test how the physics change but i don't even know that much about the normal world any how i just thought i would post this and see if anyone else has tryed it before(who knows it might get ppl interested in rigidchips again by testing out the new physics out there, just a thought)
EDIT : oh and if you are wondering how i got there, i used my brand new N-486 AirCraft
- Code:
[20:39] <darkeye22> is it just me or do the physics change after you fly in one direction after about 2 minutes?
[20:42] <isaac_> ?
[20:42] <isaac_> Never happened to me before, I don't think
[20:42] <darkeye22> let me reword it
[20:42] <darkeye22> do physics change the farther you get away from the center of the world?
[20:43] <darkeye22> because it starts acting all funny for me the farther away i get from the center
[20:43] <isaac_> I'm not sure
[20:43] <isaac_> I've never gotten that far away
[20:45] <darkeye22> do you know any scripts that tell you your Z Y and X cords?
[20:46] <isaac_> Hmmm
[20:47] <isaac_> I do not. There should be a function that shows it though, shouldn't there...
[20:47] <darkeye22> arrh it starting to get really hard to fly straight
[20:47] <isaac_> XD
[20:47] <darkeye22> uhh
[20:47] <isaac_> It's the bermuda triangle
[20:47] <darkeye22> lol
[20:47] <isaac_> or the outer limits
[20:48] <isaac_> or something
[20:48] <isaac_> ik
[20:48] <isaac_> idk
[20:49] <darkeye22> Lol my speedometer is starting to go crazy now
[20:49] <isaac_> _X (chip number) // position west +, east - _Y (chip number) on +, under - _Z (chip number) south +, north -
[20:49] <isaac_> for lua
[20:50] <darkeye22> I don't know Lau :\
[20:51] <darkeye22> Lua*
[20:52] <isaac_> neither do I XD
[20:52] <darkeye22> XD
[20:53] <isaac_> try putting
[20:53] <isaac_> out (1, _X)
[20:54] <darkeye22> :o i just lost control and my plane was ripped apart
[20:54] <isaac_> XD
[20:54] <darkeye22> now all the chips are sinking xD
[20:55] <darkeye22> try putting, out (1,_x) hmm?
[20:56] <isaac_> ye idk lol nvm
[20:56] <isaac_> I just looked up the function for print
[20:56] <darkeye22> do you mean on the scripting think put print,"# 1,_x
[20:57] <isaac_> and the one for the x pos
[20:57] <isaac_> With Lua, out (X,xxxx) replaces PRINT.
[20:57] <darkeye22> if i understand what you said, Ohhhhhhhh
[20:58] <isaac_> http://rigidchips.forumotion.com/t161-rigidchips-english-documentation
[20:59] <isaac_> wait ok I mean try out(0, _X(CHip number))
[20:59] <isaac_> then do out(1, _Y(chip number))
[20:59] <isaac_> and 2 for _Z
[21:00] <isaac_> maybe.
[21:03] <darkeye22> what do you mean chipnumber?
[21:06] <darkeye22> Ahhh Haa it works :D
[21:10] <darkeye22> i am at X : 4264.14, Z : 90679.60 :o
[21:12] <darkeye22> lets see how far i can fly untill rigidchips crashes xD
[21:15] <darkeye22> isaac_ you can stop looking for whys to see your X Z and Y cords now :P
[21:15] <isaac_> XD
[21:16] <isaac_> If I had xchat installed I'd instantly know when there was a message, but I'm not gonna use this computer for much longer so there's no point. Or maybe I'm just lazy :V
[21:16] <darkeye22> heh
[21:16] <darkeye22> what is the top velocity?
[21:18] <isaac_> idk?
[21:19] <isaac_> It's higher if you detatch the core chip though, I know
[21:19] <darkeye22> at the moment i am going 137.99 and very rarely going to 138
[21:20] <isaac_> Then the max is probably 138
[21:21] <darkeye22> when i am close to the center of the map my plane tops out at 136.99 and sometimes it goes to 137
[21:22] <darkeye22> D= my the tail of my plane just ripped off
[21:23] <darkeye22> there goes the wings
[21:23] <isaac_> lol
[21:24] <isaac_> Everyone getting skyrim and talking about it makes me want to buy it too so I can play like everyone else :<
[21:25] <darkeye22> my computer wounld't be able to handle skyrim -_-
[21:26] <darkeye22> i just hit Z : 199999,98 and i can't control my plane at all anymore
[21:30] <isaac_> XD
[21:31] <darkeye22> :S my planes top speed it toping out at 130 now
[21:31] <darkeye22> is topping*
[21:33] <darkeye22> lol if i use my rudder it rips the back of my plane off
[21:38] <darkeye22> its so much fun trying to control my plane and watch little bits of it come flying off XD
[21:40] <darkeye22> :O i have reached the end of the world
[21:40] <darkeye22> my plane will not go any farther then Z : 262799.78
[21:41] <darkeye22> -_-
[21:41] <darkeye22> arrrrrh
[21:41] <darkeye22> ...
[21:42] <darkeye22> Dx
[21:42] <darkeye22> uhh...
[21:43] <darkeye22> i just accidently pressed U..... D,:
[21:45] <darkeye22> isaac_ are you afk?
[21:45] <isaac_> XD
[21:45] <isaac_> I was on reddit
[21:45] <isaac_> IT beeps when my name is said though
[21:45] <darkeye22> i think i found the end of the rigidchips world :P
[21:46] <isaac_> What's there?
[21:46] <isaac_> DId you fall off? X
[21:46] <isaac_> XD
[21:47] <darkeye22> lol
[21:47] <darkeye22> no i was ripped to pieces even when i had unbreakable off
[21:47] <darkeye22> and i hit a invisible wall
[21:47] <darkeye22> that my plane would not go though
[21:48] <darkeye22> Then i hit U...
[21:48] <darkeye22> http://nooooooooooooooo.com/
[21:51] <isaac_> XD
[21:51] <darkeye22> i love that site :P
[21:52] <darkeye22> i wonder if i just made rigidchips history O_o
[21:52] <darkeye22> heh
[21:55] <darkeye22> hmm i wonder if anyone else has traveled to The End Of The RigidChips World
[21:55] <isaac_> I haven't heard of it being done
[21:56] <isaac_> but I'm not that active anymore anyway XD
[21:56] <darkeye22> heh
[21:56] <isaac_> And the edge of the world, that reminds me of today in 5th period
[21:56] <isaac_> Teacher was talking about how U.S took hawaii and w/e
[21:56] <isaac_> and this one girl
[21:56] <isaac_> she raises her hand and is like "what would happen if you just kept walking straight?"
[21:57] <isaac_> teacher was like wut?
[21:57] <isaac_> and she was like "would you reach the end of the earth??"
[21:57] <isaac_> "and he's like the earth is round...."
[21:58] <darkeye22> LOL
[21:58] <isaac_> Everyone was laughing
[21:59] <darkeye22> xD

Re: The End?
I tried to fly in a straight line and constant altitude to test the autonomy of several of my planes; It happened to me that after 50 km, heading north, the maximum speed decreased from 272 knots (absolute limit for the core chip) to 268 knots, a difference not negligible to me; my planes had trouble at keeping a steady altitude, and if I left the computer for five minutes or so, the planes where scattered in pieces all over the ocean. I shoul try to go that far to see what happens, since I have never flown further than 100 km.

Re: The End?
rigidchips seems to use floating-point math. this means that when the number gets larger the precision for it decreases. anyway, how long did it take for you to get there? i think it could be done faster using the _WARP() function(but that's for scenarios).

Re: The End?
it took around 2 hours going 136/137(the Velocity script speed) with my N-486 AirPlane but i stopped once in a while to type in the IRC and when me and isaac_ (AKA TheMilkMan) were trying to find a script to tell you your Z X and Y cords. if did't do that then i might be able to get there in a hour and a half or lessdarkeye22 wrote: and after about 2 hours i finally reached The End at Z : 262799.78

Re: The End?
If you drop the core chip you can speed up to 174 m/s (340 knots, 630 km/h), which means about 25 minutes to cover the 260 km dinstance.
just add in you script the line:
to give you your position on the map.
just add in you script the line:
- Code:
print 10,"Z position: ",_Z()," m, X position: ",_X()," m"
print 11,"Dinscance from map centre: ",_LEN2(_Z(),_X()), " m"
to give you your position on the map.

Re: The End?
Thanks :]
although i just use _X() _Y() and _Z() to find out my position but this is a lot nicer

Re: The End?
unfortunately to get to the largest distance you'll need a rocket. i think its too high to have any air there.

Re: The End?
Sorry to bring this topic back, but I felt as though I had something relevant to add. I have recently discovered that air resistance increases the farther you travel horizontally away from the center of the map. This would explain the control issues and decreases in speed you encountered. Oddly enough, I discovered this in a boat.

Assuming this is the case, since we also know that air resistance decreases as altitude increases, we just need to figure out what slope is needed to keep constant resistance and we can go FOREVER

I'm not so sure, because I tried to reach the top of the world once and when I got to around 522000 and 524000, I got stuck and could only go up if I pressed R. Here is a link to the post. (read the second post down)

Re: The End?
Alright, we need an expert. Does anybody know what the air pressure increases by as you go up? Is it linear or exponential?

Re: The End?
Air density decreases linearly from a certain altitude to 10000m where it reaches zero. Below that certain altitude, density remains constant. However I can't find that altitude right now.
